Project Elements:

George & Associates, Consulting Engineers, Inc. was tasked by Astroturf Corporation to perform civil engineering design services for the multi-sport athletic field at historic Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida. G&A developed a stormwater model to analyze and design the subsurface stormwater conveyance systems and coordinated with AstroTurf on synthetic turf specifications and minimized earthwork by utilizing soil-cement for subbase material.

Leon High School was founded 14 years before Florida became a state and is one of the oldest high schools in the country. The current high school and original athletic field were built in the 1930s. It remains the oldest school in Leon County that still serves its original purpose.
