SOUTHFORK HIGH SCHOOL MDS

Project Location:

Stuart, Florida

Construction Completed:

2011

Project Elements:

Martin County School Board contracted with G&A to develop a Master Drainage Plan for the existing South Fork High School, located in Stuart, Florida. The existing campus encompassed a total of 156 acres, of which 63 acres would remain undisturbed.  The northern portion of the campus contained two interconnected surface water management facilities (SWMFs). This project focused on the southern portion of the campus, where a chain of wetlands conveyed and discharged both on-site and off-site stormwater runoff to an existing 10’x5’ box culvert under the Florida Turnpike. G&A designed a third regional SWMF in the south end of the site to comply with SWFWMD nutrient removal requirements, and successfully obtained dredge & fill permits from the Army Corps of Engineers to convert a portion of the wetland chain into a storm drain system.
